| National Acupuncture Detoxification Association Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist Training for Addictions Professionals •13 CEU’s available for MD Certified and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors. •13 CEU’s pending for MD Clinical Social Workers and Psychologists Learn The Acudetox Technique Many states, including Maryland and Virginia, allow addictions professionals to learn and implement the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association’s (NADA) 5-needle Acudetox Protocol. Enhance your client services throughout all phases of recovery with this simple, low-cost and widely used technique that has been shown to significantly reduce cravings, physical symptoms, relapse, inpatient admissions, anxiety, insomnia and agitation. The Acudetox treatment involves the gentle placement of small acupuncture needles into 5 specific sites on each ear of a patient undergoing treatment. The NADA treatment helps participants become relaxed and more comfortable with his or her own thoughts, enabling the recovering person to experience a sense of “letting go” of tensions and apprehensions, and supporting quiet participation in a group setting with others who are involved in the process of recovery. The National Institutes of Health concluded that acupuncture for addictions, “may be useful as an adjunct treatment or an acceptable alternative or be included in a comprehensive management program. The Acudetox treatment allows each person to attain the stillness and internal quiet necessary to explore how the behaviors of addiction affect him or her. This acupuncture treatment also assists individuals during the acute detox phase, the 2 –- 7 day period in which withdrawal symptoms are present. The Acudetox treatment is not a replacement for conventional treatment and support meetings. Rather, it opens the doors to addictions treatment by making all the components more effective. This course covers not only the actual acupuncture techniques and points, but also Chinese Medical and Western Addictions Treatment concepts as well as NADA’s program philosophies. Participants will also complete a pre-training reading assignment and several post training homework assignments. Completion of the full 70 hours of training (30 didactic/40 clinical) will permit counselors, nurses, clinical social workers and psychologists working in the addictions field to treat their clients with this technique under the supervision of a state Licensed Acupuncturist. After this two-day seminar, trainees will be able to begin the clinical component. Upon completion of all course requirements, trainees can apply to NADA for a certificate as an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist; this certificate is required for state licensing. The fee for this course is $325 (includes NADA’s $35 training fee). All course materials are provided. Meals are on your own. NADA also requires trainees pay the $65 first year membership and Certificate fee the first day of class. Refunds are generally not offered. Registration fees will be credited to a future training. The course instructor, Dave Wurzel, is a NADA Registered Trainer and was one of the recipients of the Association’s first ever Most Valuable Trainer Award in 2005. He travels extensively teaching the Acudetox protocol to acupuncturists, counselors, clinical social workers, nurses and doctors. Dave has administered over 30,000 Acudetox treatments and is trained as a chemical dependency counselor. Please call 443-812-1665 or email The Chi Farm for the current schedule of classes. Individual agencies can also schedule on-site trainings for at least five trainees. Please call or email for further details. |
