Is Acupuncture Covered by Insurance:
Acupuncture is now considered an Essential Health Benefit under Maryland’s Health Insurance Exchange, meaning most insurance policies must offer some form of coverage for acupuncture. The Chi Farm is an in-network provider for CareFirst Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Aetna, United HealthCare, Cigna, and Optum Health Plans. Health savings plans, flexible spending accounts, etc. can usually be used to cover the cost of treatment and/or co-pays and co-insurance. To inquire about your coverage, please fill out the New Patient Information Form. We will get back to you, generally within one business day, with your insurance coverage.
What if I don’t have insurance coverage?
For those patients without insurance coverage for acupuncture, The Chi Farm offers a sliding scale payment option for those individuals for whom paying the full fee would cause a financial hardship. We will be happy to discuss this option with you.
Payment Methods:
The Chi Farm accepts checks, cash and credit cards. Payment for services is expected at the time of treatment. Patients are responsible for any amounts billed to their insurance companies that are not reimbursed to The Chi Farm.
Confidentiality:
Patient confidentiality as required by state and federal law is maintained at all times.
Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations must be made no later than 24 hours before treatment or a cancellation charge may be assessed.
Fees:
For those patients whose health insurance covers acupuncture, co-pay or co-insurance amounts are determined by your carrier and are due at the time of service. For patients paying out of pocket and for whom paying the full fee would cause a financial burden, we offer a sliding fee scale with maximum charges of $125 for the initial intake and treatment (approximately 2 hours) and $80 for follow-up treatments (approximately 1 hour).
